Dignity, Invisibility and Janitors in India, South Korea and the US: An intersectionality perspective
A conference by Prof. Ramaswami Mahalingam.
Ram Mahalingam is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Michigan. He is a cultural psychologist with a research focus on the following three topics:
- Dignity in work place;
- Mindful mindset;
- Cell phones and self.
Intersectionality is an underlying theme of these three projects (Director, Mindful Connections Lab). Using mixed methods, he is studying janitors in India, US and South Korea. His presentation will focus on dignity and invisibility of janitorial work in these three countries at the intersections of race, ethnicity, caste, gender and social class. He will present his qualitative research findings from this project.
